The navigation system provides you

with several different criteria for select-

ing the type of route. For example, you

can determine whether your planned

route will be with the "Least use of

highways."

You can change the selection of the

type of route as often as you wish dur-

ing destination guidance – the system

will always make recalculations based

on the new selection:

1 Select "Information"

2 Select "Route preference"

3 Select the desired type of route

> Travel on highways: Freeways and

major thoroughfares are selected

with preference

> Secondary roads: Freeways are

avoided whenever possible

> Fastest connection: A combination

which optimizes time and route

> Shortest connection: Route optimi-

zation without consideration for

time.

Route planning will be executed in

the navigation system based on

fixed guidelines. These guidelines de-

pend on road characteristics which are

stored on the CD map. As a result, the

route recommended by the system may

be different from the one your personal

experience might suggest.<
