Rollover protection system
The rollover protection system is auto-
matically activated in the event of an
accident or other critical driving situa-
tion (extreme tilting along either the
longitudinal oder lateral axis, loss of
ground contact). The protective bar
located in the rear head restraints
thrusts outward within fractions of a
second.
In addition to the rollover bar that is
integrated into the windshield frame,
the rollover protection system provides
all vehicle occupants with necessary
headroom.
Always keep the travel path for
the rollover protection system free
and clear. Never attach any type of pro-
tective coverings to the head restraints.
In less serious accidents, your safety
belt will protect you, and depending on
the severity of the accident, the safety
belt tensioner and the multi-stage air-
bag restraint system will as well.c
If this safety feature is no longer
needed after it has been automatically
deployed, then the rollover protection
system can be lowered again. No spe-
cial tools of any kind are needed to do
this.
1 Use a screwdriver from the onboard
tool kit to remove the cover panel;
position it under the notch (arrow)
